ABOUT THE CONTEST

Building on WTCI's and Reading Rainbow’s strong tradition of inspiring children to read and write,
students were asked to let their imaginations run (or write) wild!

The PBS KIDS Go! Writers Contest is a local contest designed to promote the advancement of children’s reading skills through hands-on, active learning.
The Contest encouraged children in grades K-5 to celebrate the power of creating stories and illustrations by submitting their own original pieces.

Local judges chose the top three entries from each grade level. The authors of those entries were invited to attend a ceremony and celebration on May 19th honoring their works. First place winners in each grade level received a trophy and will have the opportunity to share their story on air. All top three winners in each grade level received a certificate of recognition and a gift bag.
